David is a type of Jesus in the Old Testament. His anointing by Samuel has a 3 fold effect and sets him apart as a prophet, a priest and a king. The anointing of Jesus at his baptism sets him apart in a similar fashion, but he is the only prophet who always spoke what his Father said, was the ultimate high priest, and the King of all Kings. David foreshadows the One who is the Messiah and savior.
